  1. Data Center Infrastructure Monitoring (DCIM): Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) is the convergence of IT and data center facilities functions within an organization. A DCIM system collects and manages information about a Data Center’s assets, resource use and operational status. This information is then distributed, integrated, analyzed and applied in ways that help managers meet business and service-oriented goals and optimize their Data Center’s performance.

    DCIM monitors, measures, manages and/or controls Data Center use and energy consumption of:

    • IT-related equipment such as servers, storage, and network switches
    • Facilities infrastructure components, such as PDUs and CRACs

    DCIM tools are used to optimize Data Center power, cooling and physical space and can be delivered as software, as a combination of hardware and software solutions, or as a service. For Data Centres to thrive now and in the future, they must be able to monitor, manage and measure the assets using an integrated, cost-efficient and real-time solution.

  2. Environmental Monitoring: Environmental Monitoring Systems aid the monitoring of environmental conditions in a critical space. It involves the use of sensors to capture the current state of monitored environmental parameters, send out scheduled alerts when preset thresholds are exceeded.

  3. Network Monitoring: Network Monitoring is the use of a system that constant monitors a computer network for slow or failing components, notifying an appropriate personnel in cases of outages. We also monitor the physical connections and interractions of components in the physical layer of the network.

    A Network Monitoring System (NMS) monitors the network for problems caused by overloaded and/or crashed servers, network connections, unpatched connections and other devices.

  4. Building Management: A Building Management System (BMS) or Building Automation System (BAS) is a computer-based control system installed in buildings that controls and monitors the building’s mechanical and electrical equipment such as ventilation, lighting, power systems, fire systems and security systems. A BMS consists of software and hardware. The software program, usually configured in a hierarchical manner, can be proprietary, using such protocolas as C-Bus, Profibus, and so on. Other solutions integrate Internet Protocoals and open standards such as DeviceNet, SOAP, XML, BACnet, LonWorks and Modbus.
